Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my wanderlust in travel and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

same same but different

I’ll start by stating that I’m not concerned about the current food supply and supply chain process… yet. That said, I’ve been thinking about being more sustainable and growing foods that I commonly eat at home (specifically vegetables). I’ve been spending some time to determine if my house/lot gets enough sunlight and where might be the best place to start getting something setup - it is. And then figuring out what might be best to plant/grow at home. I’m thinking the following: onions, green onions, potatoes, tomatoes, garlic, carrots, and some sort of lettuce. That should cover most of my commonly used ingredients at home or would want to eat on a daily basis.

The one thing I need to figure out is the best way to setup the garden. Ideally would want something elevated to make it easy to access/maintain. I do have a walkway leading to my front door and could have the elevated garden on both sides of the walkway. And then there is space next to the porch that I could use. This might be a nice “quarantine project” in time for spring/summer gardening.

  • Currently watching: Peloton - Meditation - I’ve been back to spending 10 minutes at the start of each morning completing one of Peloton’s meditation classes to get into the right mindset. I’m not sure if it’s helping but might be something I look back on after the year.

  • Currently listening: Coffee shop background noise via YouTube - I just work better with that kind of “white noise”. Not sure if it’s from my college days, but something out that “chaos” that causes me to focus.

  • Currently reading: Moonwalking with Einstein by Joshua Foer - Personally, I have issues remembering chronological sequences in the past but want to improve my skills overall in retaining information in a time where there’s so much data to organize/coordinate/recall.
